The Sea Kings had runners on second and third base in the final inning with one out, but couldn’t rally in their season opener and Foothill Pool game of the Newport Elks Tournament Thursday.

Teddy Stuka was two for two with a double, Konrad Lyle was one for three with a double and a run batted in, and Nick Ontiveros had an RBI for CdM (0-1).

The Sea Kings continue play in the Newport Elks Tournament at La Harbra Saturday at 11 a.m.

Magnolia 4, Estancia 3

Connor Brown went three for three with a run batted in and a double for the Eagles in the OC Pool of the Newport Elks Tournament Thursday.

Dylan Laurent (one for three, run, stolen base), Jason Rodriguez (two for three, run, RBI, double, stolen base) and Jackson letterman (run, three stolen bases) also contributed for Estancia.

Magnolia won the game on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Estancia plays host to Santa Ana Saturday at 11 a.m.

Crean Lutheran 8, Costa Mesa 2

Connor Howard had an RBI double for the Mustnags in the season opener and OC Pool game of the Newport Elks Tournament Thursday.

Howard also pitched six innings, allowing five hits and no walks. He struck out four and allowed three earned runs.

BOYS’ GOLF

Long Beach Millikan 197, Estancia 208

LONG BEACH – Jaime Ramirez shot 39 to earn medalist honors at El Dorado Park Golf Course in a nonleague match Thursday.

Kobi Uta (41), Davon Ortiz (42), Gunnar Johnston (43) and Parker Oland (43) also scored for Estancia.

Corona del Mar 191, Edison 193

Hale Furey, Chase Furey, Ian Fletcher and John Hong each shot three-over-par 38 to lead the Sea Kings to the nonleague win Thursday at Newport Beach Country Club.

The golfers received a treat by playing at Newport Beach, as the course is prepared for next week’s Toshiba Classic.

Drew Hanson shot 39 for CdM (2-0), which plays in the Aliso Niguel Tournament Monday at Aliso Viejo Country Club.

BOYS’ TENNIS

St. Margaret’s 10, Sage Hill 8

Freshman Adam Langevin won twice in singles for the Lightning in Thursday’s Academy League opener at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.

Freshman Omeed Moini also won twice in singles for Sage Hill (1-1, 0-1 in league).

The Lightning host the Compass Team Tournament, which also features Newport Harbor and Woodbridge, on Friday and Saturday at The Tennis Club.
