The Sea Kings swept in doubles to open the season Tuesday.

Matt Paulsen and Grant Brown swept in doubles for CdM (1-0).

Woodbridge 12, Sage Hill 6

The Lightning opened the season with a loss on Tuesday.

Sage Hill won five of nine in singles.

Sage Hill will play host to the 14th Annual Lightning Invitational this weekend with Newport Harbor, Canyon, St. Margaret’s, and St. Ignatius of San Francisco.

CIF Southern Section Southern Division Individuals

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Newport Harbor High sophomore Drew Dobbs finished fifth in the 195-pound weight class Saturday and qualified for the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet.

Dobbs’ fifth-place finish was the highest placing by a sophomore in CIF in Dominic Bulone’s 16 years as coach at Newport Harbor.

Senior Brett Beaudette was sixth in 182s and became a Masters alternate.

The Masters meet will be held at Ontario’s Citizens Business Bank Arena on Friday and Saturday starting at 10 a.m. both days.

TEMECULA — Estancia High’s Jared Salinas placed fifth in the 120-pound weight class on Saturday.

Costa Mesa’s Nelson Vazquez placed 6th in 106s.
