Slammers holding celebration Saturday

Slammers FC, a youth soccer club based in Newport Beach, is holdiing a program celebration on Saturday from 6-10 p.m. at The OC Mix at SOCO in Costa Mesa. College coaches, program alumni and special soccer star guests are expected to attend the celebration, which will include food and beverages from local merchants and an auction. Uhl hurls no-no

Former Orange Coast College standout Keeghan Uhl, a senior pitcher at Concordia University, pitched a no-hitter on Friday in the Eagles’ 9-0 triumph over Antelope Valley.

Uhl, the Orange Empire Conference Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore at OCC in 2012, struck out 12, walked three and faced three over the minimum.

Uhl, a transfer from Lee University in Tennessee who produced the first no-hitter in the 32-season history of the Concordia program, improved to 1-1.
