Irene Chavez posted a career-high 22 points off the bench for UC Irvine, but the Anteaters lost to cross-county rival Cal State Fullerton at the Bren Events Center Thursday.

The sophomore guard went 8 for 11 from the floor, including 4 of 5 from three-point range.

The Anteaters (3-15, 0-3) shot 65.2 percent (15 of 23) from the floor in the second half, but hit just 18.5 percent (5 of 27) in the first.

The Titans (8-7, 2-0) were paced by Daeja Smith and Tailer Butler with 13 points apiece.
