EL CAJON — Nicole Ballestero and Taylor Belmont scored 23 and 22 points, respectively for the No. 1 ranked Lions in a Golden State Athletic Conference opener Tuesday.

Belmont also had 13 assists. She shot six for six from the field and hit her only three-point attempt. She was nine for 11 at the foul line.

Samantha Doucette added 16 points and Ashleigh Anderson finished with 12 points for Vanguard (12-0, 1-0 in conference).

Vanguard 84, San Diego Christian 75

EL CAJON — DeAngelo Jones scored 26 ponts and Zach Allmon contributed 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions in a Golden State Athletic Conference opener Tuesday.

Chris Gorman added 14 points, seven assists, four steals and one block for Vanguard (14-2, 1-0 in conference).

San Diego Christian is 4-6, 0-1.
