Newport Harbor advanced to the semifinals with a pair of wins Friday at Newport Harbor High. The Sailors beat Corona Santiago, 10-2, then got past Rosary, 9-6.

Christina O’Beck had three goals against Santiago, and Kate Pipkin and Ellie Reid each scored twice. Heidi Fults led the scoring against Rosary, with four goals.

Goalies Cleo Harrington and Carlee Kapana combined to make 30 save in the two games for Newport Harbor.

The Sailors (6-1) play Foothill in the semifinals at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at Newport Harbor High. The championship game is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Newport Harbor 44, Godinez 33

Junior guard Sammie Yeager finished with nine points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Sailors in a nonleague home game on Friday.

Jennifer Raya had six points, 10 rebounds and three steals, while Bela Raimondi added 11 points.

McKenna Izzi had 11 points.

Newport Harbor (7-5) plays host to rival Corona del Mar in the Battle of the Bay game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Estancia 75, Rancho Alamitos 41

Senior guard Celia Duran had 24 points, including six three-pointers, for the Eagles in Friday’s nonleague home game.

Lehua Alma-Jordan had 11 points, Bryanna Vernon added nine and Maya Van Den Heever had eight points and seven assists. Estancia (13-2) made 13 three-pointers as a team.

The Eagles play host to Santa Ana on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
