OCC falls in tournament final

SAN DIEGO — Freshman Dayanara Armenta scored 17 points to lead the Pirates in the championship game of the San Diego Mesa tournament on Saturday at San Diego Mesa.

Armenta earned all-tournament honors for OCC (7-6), for which sophomore Michelle Angel had eight points.

On Friday, OCC defeated San Diego Mesa, 63-47, behind 22 points from Armenta.

Sophomores Jessica Johnson and Jenna Arnett had 16 and 10 points, respectively, against San Diego Mesa.

Coach Mike Thornton’s Pirates return to action on Thursday, when they face Chaffey at 5 p.m. in the opening round of the College of the Canyons tournament.
