Todorovic, Smith champs

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Bojana Todorovic, a former University High standout, and Madie Smith, a former Corona del Mar star setter, were a part of UCLA’s national championship in women’s volleyball Saturday night in the Alamodome.

Todorovic, a junior outside hitter/defensive specialist, had 18 digs, three block assists, one kill and one assist for the Bruins, who won UCLA its 108 national title, the most of any school in the nation.

Smith is a sophomore libero for UCLA.

The Bruins (30-6) beat Illinois, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 25-16.

The Illini (32-5) has former UC Irvine men’s volleyball player David Kniffin as an assistant coach.

UCLA won its fourth national title in women’s volleyball and its first since 1991.
