Newport Harbor 48, South Torrance 46

PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Carter Fortier sank two free throws with 10 seconds left to secure victory in the final pool-play game of the Palos Verdes Tournament on Friday.

Senior Cody Caldwell had 16 points and nine rebounds to pace the Sailors (4-6), who finished in a three-way tie for first in their pool, but will play for third place today against an opponent to be determined.

Craig McKennon had 10 points and Fortier finished with eight for the Tars.

Estancia 66, Rancho Alamitos 64

GARDEN GROVE — Davon Joyner scored 32 points and Ray Holmes added 28 points for the Eagles in the nonleague game Friday night.

Estancia Coach Agustin Heredia said his team made free throws down the stretch to help seal the win. Joyner was 18 of 22 from the free-throw line, while Holmes hit 11 of 12 free-throw attempts and Ben Beck made three of four from the foul line.

The Eagles (5-5) had a 66-61 lead late. Rancho Alamitos knocked down a three-pointer to beat the buzzer.

Estancia will play host to San Clemente Tuesday at 7 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Sage Hill 2, Calvary Chapel 1

NEWPORT COAST — Junior Jack Percival had a goal and an assist for the Lightning in the nonleague game Thursday.

Michael Schidlovsky scored in the first half off an assist from Percival.

In the second half, Percival put Sage Hill up, 2-0, with a goal. Senior Colton Gyulay assisted on the goal.

Goalie Mason Weinstein made several remarkable saves.

The Lightning will next play at Whitney, Jan. 4 at 3:15 p.m.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Costa Mesa 2, Los Amigos 2

COSTA MESA — Sami Feinstein and Maria Muñoz scored a goal each for the Mustangs in the nonleague game at Jim Scott Stadium Thursday.

Goalie Margarita Acevedo had six saves for Costa Mesa (1-2-2), which plays in the Bellflower tournament today.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Segerstrom 42, Newport Harbor 38

SANTA ANA — Alex Morton had 10 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks for the Sailors in the bronze bracket game of the Segerstrom tournament Friday.

Kasey Thompson had eight points and 16 rebounds, while Mandy Legault had four points, four rebounds and six assists for Newport Harbor (5-3).

The Sailors will play against Trabuco Hills in a consolation game today at 11 a.m. at Segerstrom High.
