MONTEBELLO — Junior guard Nic Sargeant finished with 17 points, leading the Sailors to a fourth-place finish in the Cantwell-Sacred Heart tournament on Saturday.

Robbie Rettig had 12 points for Newport Harbor (6-3), ranked No. 11 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2-A poll.

Zach Wade dished out six assists.

The Sailors play at Irvine in the Sunset League-Pacific Coast League Challenge on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Tesoro 49, Newport Harbor 32

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Junior guard Jen Lopez produced 11 points and nine rebounds as the Sailors placed sixth in the Ocean View tournament on Saturday.

Lopez and Cierra Haas, who had six rebounds, each made the all-tournament team.

Jasmyn Winters had nine points for the Sailors (4-8).

Newport Harbor plays host to Orange on Monday at 7 p.m.

Marina 51, Corona del Mar 44

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Freshman forward Natalia Bruening registered a double-double, 12 points and 13 rebounds, in the Sea Kings’ consolation final in the Ocean View tournament on Saturday.

Krista Anderson had 11 points and nine rebounds for CdM (4-5).

Katie Scott added nine points and made the all-tournament team.

The Sea Kings play host to rival Newport Harbor in the Battle of the Bay on Friday at 6 p.m.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 13, Palos Verdes 4

PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Carolyn Smith finished with four goals, two assists and five steals in the Sailors’ nonleague game on Saturday.

Carly Christian had three goals, two assists and five steals for Newport Harbor (2-1).

The Sailors play host to Long Beach Wilson on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

WRESTLING

Mater Dei tournament

SANTA ANA — Senior Andrew Minkus finished second to lead four Corona del Mar High athletes who placed in the top four in the 34-team event on Saturday.

Minkus reached the final at 126 pounds, while junior Kaden Ebbinga was third at 152 pounds.

Juniors Chris Croxton (113 pounds) and Adam Reines were fourth to help CdM finish 12th as a team.
