Newport Harbor 12, Long Beach Wilson 5

NEWPORT BEACH — Mary Rose Wight and Madison McLaren scored four goals each for the Sailors in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Wight also recorded three steals, while McLaren had two assists and one steal.

Catherine Carpenter contributed one goal, two assists and two steals and goalie Sarah Wilkey had 10 saves for Newport Harbor (3-0)

The Sailors play at Corona del Mar Friday at 4 p.m. in the Battle of the Bay.

Newport Harbor is ranked No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll. The Sea Kings are ranked No. 5 in Division I.

Downey 15, Estancia 9

COSTA MESA — Kylie Carpenter had four goals and Ilene Umansky added three for the host Eagles in the nonelague game Tuesday.

Estancia (3-7) plays at Lakeside of Lake Elsinore today at 3 p.m.

Estancia 42, Orange 26

ORANGE — Yessenia Maldonado scored 14 points for the Eagles in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Celia Duran added 13 points, while Vanessa Stafford and Brenda Soto had six points each for Estancia (5-4), which plays host to Santiago tonight at 7.

Foothill 66, Newport Harbor 43

SANTA ANA — Junior Kasey Thompson scored a season-high 22 points and had eight rebounds, despite missing most of the first half in foul trouble in the pool-play opener of the Segerstrom Tournament on Tuesday.

Alex Morton had 12 points, 14 rebounds and six assists and Kelly Lesueur had seven rebounds and four points for the Tars (5-1), who led, 8-2, but were outscored, 22-5, in the second quarter.

Newport Harbor continues in the tournament Thursday against Capistrano Valley.

Aliso Niguel 64, Corona del Mar 36

ALISO VIEJO – Senior guard Kalya Marolt finished with 17 points in the Sea Kings’ nonleague game Tuesday night.

Daniela Gallardo had five points for CdM (6-3).

The Sea Kings play at Calvary Chapel on Monday at noon.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Mira Costa 60, Newport Harbor 47

PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Craig McKennon scored 11 points for the Sailors in the pool-play game of the Palos Verdes tournament Tuesday.

Omar Ramos added eight points for Newport Harbor (2-6), which will continue pool play Thursday against Gardena at 3 p.m.
