Sage Hill 43, Santa Ana Valley 37

IRVINE — Mark Loper was named tournament MVP of the Gelman Classic after scoring 18 points in the title game at Tarbut V’Torah Thursday.

Chris Zadra scored 10 points, while T.J. Danner had seven points and was named to the all-tournament team for Sage Hill (7-0) in the four-team tournament.

The Lightning’s Darren Chen was also all-tournament.

Corona del Mar 77, San Bernardino 47

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Danny Cheek scored 20 points for the Sea Kings, who won their pool and advanced to the semifinals of the Ocean View Tournament of Champions Thursday.

Chris Freeman added 17 points and Marcus Bradley scored 14 points for CdM (5-1), which plays against Loyola of Los Angeles tonight at 8 at Ocean View.

Vista Mar 65, Costa Mesa 54

LONG BEACH — Andrew Albers produced a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Mustangs in the pool-play game of the St. Anthony tournament Thursday.

Matt Dimson had 11 points and Daniel Wase added nine points and four assists for Costa Mesa (2-4).

La Serna 33, Newport Harbor 31

FULLERTON — Senior forward Cody Caldwell finished with 10 points in the Sailors’ pool-play game at the Fullerton Tribe Classic on Thursday.

Newport Harbor (2-4) resumes tournament play Saturday against Fullerton at 4 p.m.

Montebello 61, Estancia 31

PICO RIVERA — Senior guard Ray Holmes had 12 points for the Eagles in the quarterfinals of the El Rancho Luke Pride Classic on Thursday.

Estancia (3-4) plays La Mirada in a consolation game today at 4:30 p.m.

Corona del Mar 4, San Pascual 0

SAN DIEGO — Allyson Brahs scored two goals for the Sea Kings to open the Butch Lee Memorial tournament with a win Thursday at Cathedral Catholic.

Alana Hunter and Alexa Mamatas scored one goal each for CdM (2-0).

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Estancia 15, Fullerton 12

COSTA MESA — Senior Kylie Carpenter scored eight goals for the Eagles in the nonleague game Thursday.

Sophomore Ilene Umansky had five goals and sophomore Goalie Alexis Paul had 10 saves for Estancia (3-6).

Costa Mesa 10, Paramount 6

COSTA MESA — Sydney Rosello scored four goals to lead the Mustangs in the nonleague game Thursday.

Rosello also drew two ejections and a five-meter penalty. Kellie Thorsness added two goals and two steals, while Ashley DeMarzo had one goal and two assists.

Sage Hill 47, Connelly 26

ANAHEIM — Sarah Derheim scored 16 points for the Lightning in the pool-play game of the Husky Classic at Fairmont Prep Thursday.

Ava Soleimany had 14 points and Maggie Danner added eight points and 10 rebounds to help Sage Hill remain undefeated at 4-0.

The Lightning’s Zoe Kreitenberg contributed seven points and 17 rebounds.

Corona del Mar 39, Orange 19

ORANGE — Ellie Nadal finished with nine points Thursday night, helping the Sea Kings advance to the semifinals of the Orange Tournament.

Samantha Coffman had eight points and Kalya Marolt added seven points for CdM.

The Sea Kings (5-1) play Century in the semis today at 6 p.m.

Estancia 51, Trabuco Hills 41

ORANGE — Kassie Stratton scored 22 points to lead the Eagles in the pool-play game at the Orange tournament Thursday.

Stratton had been out with a calf injury. Estancia Coach Xavier Castellano said he had to play her because teammate Yessenia Maldonado missed the game due to a family event.

Celia Duran scored 15 points and Jenny Boldizar added nine points, hitting three three-pointers in the second half for the Eagles (3-3).
