IRVINE — Junior Camille Buckley had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead the host Anteaters in the nonconference game Wednesday at the Bren Events Center.

Junior guard Kelly Meggs had nine points for the ‘Eaters, who fell to 2-6.

The Vandals (2-6) posted a 48-35 rebounding edge and committed just seven turnovers, five fewer than UCI. They made seven of their 12 three-point field goals in the second half.

Buckley was five for seven from the field and three for three from the free-throw line. Her teammates were seven for 14 from the foul line.

Meggs made two three-pointers in 37 minutes.

The ‘Eaters player their final home game of 2012 on Sunday against Cal State Bakersfield at 1 p.m.

NORTHRIDGE — Junior guards Preston Wynne and Chris Gorman had 17 and 15 points, respectively, for the visiting Lions in a game that counted as an exhibition for the visitors.

Gorman led Vanguard with five rebounds and five assists, while Wynne posted a team-high three steals and one blocked shot.

The Matadors, for whom the game counted on their record, improved to 7-2. They posted a 49-25 advantage in rebounds and made 45 of 67 field-goal attempts (67.2%), including 10 of 16 from three-point range (62.5%).

Vanguard converted 27 of 73 field-goal tries (37%).

Freshman Myles Smith had nine points and four assists off the bench for the Lions.

Taylor Kelly also had nine points for the Lions.

Vanguard visits Chapman on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
