BUENA PARK — Robbie Rettig and Nic Sargeant scored 12 points each for the Sailors to open the Coyote Classic at Buena Park High Tuesday.

Kevin Rakestraw grabbed 10 rebounds and Zach Wade dished out six assists for Newport Harbor (2-0), which plays against Santa Fe Thursday again at Buena Park.

NEWPORT COAST — The Lightning lost their first game of the season in their Ueberroth Hoops Classic Tuesday.

Sophomore forward Tyler Hague scored 23 points and junior guard Jack Williamson added 15 points for Sage Hill (3-1).

The Lightning scored a 69-66 win over Calvary Chapel Santa Ana to open their tournament on Monday.

Williamson scored 32 points, including five three-pointers, Hague added 15 points and sophomore guard CJ McCord had 12 points with three three-pointers for Sage Hill, which concludes pool play Wednesday against Arrowhead at 5 p.m.

Costa Mesa 10, Pacifica 7

COSTA MESA — Junior goalie Kaitlyn Hill had 17 saves for the Mustangs in the nonleague match Tuesday at Costa Mesa High.

Kellie Thorsness had four goals and also drew two exclusions and a penalty shot for Costa Mesa. Alicia Rederscheid had three goals, and Ashley Tfaye had two goals and two assists.

Aubry Hill added a goal and two assists for Costa Mesa (4-3).

COSTA MESA — Ilene Umansky scored nine goals for the Eagles in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Nikkie Blinn scored two goals and goalie Alexis Paul made 12 saves for Estancia (4-4).

Corona del Mar 3, Downey 1

CORONA DEL MAR — Annie Alvarado, Jayden Smith and Karsten Sigband scored for the Sea Kings in their season opener Tuesday.

Shelby Brown and Monica Venturini had an assist each for CdM (1-0). Goalie Kendall Mulvaney made two saves in the first half and Kat Hess made three saves in the second half against the CIF Southern Section Division 5 defending champion.

The Sea Kings, ranked No. 8 in Division 1, will begin play in the Butch Lee Memorial tournament Thursday at 3 p.m. against La Jolla at Cathedral Catholic in San Diego.

NEWPORT COAST — Kekai Whitford (five saves) and Rachel Cramer (two saves) helped preserve the shutout for the Lightning in Tuesday’s nonleague match at Sage Hill.

Sage Hill is 7-0-1.

COSTA MESA — Junior Cassandra Garcia scored for the Eagles in the nonleague game at Jim Scott Stadium Tuesday.

Estancia (0-1-2) led, 1-0, at halftime, but surrendered two goals in the second half.

The Eagles play against Santa Ana Valley at Centennial Park Thursday at 3 p.m.

NEWPORT COAST — Senior Maggie Danner had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Lightning in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Sophomore Bailey Super and senior Shelby Bolen (seven rebounds) added 10 points each for Sage Hill (1-1).

ANAHEIM — Celia Duran scored 21 points, including five three-pointers for the Eagles to open the Loara tournament Monday.

Neffertiti Van Den Heever added 11 points for Estancia (3-2).

COSTA MESA — The nonleague game between the Newport-Mesa schools was called due to darkness and no lights Tuesday at Jim Scott Stadium.

Estancia outshot the Sea Kings, 6-3.

Senior Christian Montillo and sophomore Christian Monroy stood out for the Eagles, Coach Robert Castellano said.

Estancia (1-0-2) plays host to Pacifica Wednesday at 5 p.m.
