Sunset League finals

SEAL BEACH — Newport Harbor High’s Ricki Archie and Christina Young captured the doubles title Thursday.

The duo beat fellow Sailors Megan Bathen and Mindy Wheeler, 7-6 (7-0), 6-1, in the final.

The Newport Harbor doubles team of Alex Aiello and Riley Mathies finished third.

The Sailors’ Natalie Cernius reached the singles’ final, losing to Edison’s Sarah Stadselt, 6-2, 6-0

Newport Harbor’s Blake Bakkila earned third place in singles.

Archie and Young, Bathen and Wheeler, as well as Cernius, have qualified for CIF Individuals.

Academy League finals

NEWPORT BEACH — Sage Hill School juniors Katie Bick and Rian Billingsley remained undefeated this season as they won the doubles title Thursday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.

The Lightning duo defeated Hannah Hess and Maddie Gottlieb of St. Margaret’s, 6-1, 6-4 in the final and qualified for CIF Individuals.

Corona del Mar 17, Beckman 8

CORONA DEL MAR — Chase Watson scored five goals to help the Sea Kings finish undefeated in the Pacific Coast League Thursday.

Emery Molnar added two goals for league champion Corona del Mar (19-8, 10-0 in league).

Newport Harbor 17, Villa Park 3

NEWPORT BEACH — Farrel South and Daniel Stevens scored four goals each for the Sailors in the nonleague game Thursday.

South also had three steals and one assist, while Davy Jorth and Ryan Fowler scored three goals each for Newport Harbor (22-4), which plays host to The Bishop’s today.

Corona del Mar def. Beckman

CORONA DEL MAR — Morgan Boukather had 14 kills to lead the Sea Kings to a 25-13, 25-11, 19-25, 25-19 Pacific Coast League win Thursday.

Kelsey Humphreys amassed 33 assists and Katelyn Baker had seven digs for league champion CdM (20-7, 10-0 in league), which plays host to rival Newport Harbor today at 5:30 p.m.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Lauren Demos had 13 kills and Maddy Brown had 12 kills to lead the Sailors to a 25-16, 25-21, 26-24 win and a second-place finish in the Sunset League Thursday.

Kasey Thompson had eight kills and Cinnamon Sary had 28 assists for Newport Harbor (20-11, 7-3 in league).

St. Margaret’s def. Sage Hill

NEWPORT COAST — Natasha Sakraney had eight kills and five digs for the Lightning, who finished second in the Academy League after losing, 25-12, 25-18, 28-26, Thursday.

Zoe Kreitenberg had five kills, four aces and four blocks, while Alaina Lewis had 14 assists and two blocks for Sage Hill (11-12, 8-2 in league).
