COSTA MESA — Karen Silvas finished sixth invidually to help Orange Coast College finish first at Fairview Park on Saturday.
Silvas finsihed the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 50.14 seconds as the Pirates posted 53 team points, 52 better than runner-up Glendale. As a top-seven finisher, Silvas earns first-team All-Southern California recognition.
Camille Garcia (eighth in 19:04.92), Chelsea Clifford (12th in 19:16.13), Reanna Cortez (13th in 19:17.56) and Leanne Allen (14th in 19:17.56) also helped OCC dominate the field and advance to the state championships, Nov. 17 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Garcia, Clifford, Cortez and Allen are second-team All-Southern California honorees.
Grace Graham Zamudio of Glendale was the top individual (18:09.43).

COSTA MESA — Orange Coast College finished fifth as a team at Fairview Park on Saturday to advance to the state meet on Nov. 17 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Austin Little, a Newport Harbor High product, paced the Pirates, finishing the four-mile course in 20 minutes, 38.49 seconds.
Luis Morales and Jan Bonthius finished 21st and 22nd, respectively, for OCC, both with a time of 20:49.36, while Barron Maizland was 35th for the Pirates in 21:03.28.
San Bernardino won the team title with 95 points, 17 better than OCC.
Omar Cortes of Los Angeles Trade Tech (19:48.44) was the individual champion.

Pacific def. UC Irvine
STOCKTON — Senior libero Kristin Winkler broke a UC Irvine single-match record with 36 digs against Pacific, which won the Big West Conference match, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 15-12, Saturday night.
Marisa Bubica and Aly Squires each totaled 15 kills apiece with Squires logging a season-high 22 digs for a double-double. Marissa Alvarez had a career-high 17 digs to go along with 59 assists, two aces and a season-best 17 digs. Taylor Smith was the third Anteater to top a personal-best effort with 14 kills for UCI (10-17, 5-8 in conference).
