IRVINE — Senior outside hitter Grace Kennedy recorded seven kills as the Sea Kings improved to 6-0 in Pacific Coast League play with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 victory on Tuesday.

Alexis Cage contributed six kills and Hayley Hodson five kills for CdM (16-5 overall), ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1-A poll.

Kelsey Humphreys totaled 26 assists and seven digs.

The Sea Kings play host to Northwood on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.

Edison def. Newport Harbor

NEWPORT BEACH — Gabby Shelley had 15 kills to lead the Sailors, but the Chargers won the Sunset League match, 18-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-8, Tuesday.

Carolyn Bockrath added 12 kills, Leah Castillo had nine kills and Torrey Thompson amassed 44 assists for Newport Harbor (15-7, 4-2 in league).

“We had our opportunities,” Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn said. “They got a little momentum in that second game and they passed the ball better in the third game. We had trouble stopping that momentum. Edison definitely picked up their play.”

The Sailors play host to Fountain Valley Thursday.

Crean Lutheran def. Sage Hill

NEWPORT COAST — The Saints upset the Lightning in the Academy League match, 18-25, 25-10, 25-17, 24-26, 15-13, Tuesday.

Crean Lutheran entered ranked No. 10 in CIF Southern Section Division 3-A, while Sage Hill (12-5, 4-2 in league) came in as the No. 2-ranked team in the division.

Sophomore setter Maddy Abbott had 36 assists and eight digs, sophomore Halland Mckenna had 18 kills and 15 digs and senior outside hitter Maggie Danner had eight kills and seven digs for the Lightning, who play host to rival St. Margaret’s Friday at 5:30 p.m.

LAGUNA BEACH — Abby Griffith had 10 kills for the Eagles, who lost the Orange Coast League match, 25-20, 25-12, 25-23, Tuesday.

Estancia is 7-9, 4-3 in league.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Sage Hill 14, Whitney 4

CERRITOS — Liana Korber and Celine Wang swept at No. 1 and No. 2 singles play, respectively, helping the Lightning clinch at least a share of the Academy League title on Tuesday.

Sage Hill (5-0 in league), ranked No. 9 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 poll, can win the league crown outright by defeating No. 6 St. Margaret’s (4-1 in league) at the San Clemente Tennis Center on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The match is the final one in league.

In No. 1 doubles, Kim Brown and Molly Wang swept for the Lightning.

SANTA ANA — Junior Doris Corona and freshman Eden Steel swept in singles for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League match Tuesday.

Sophomores Morgan Miller and Mikaela Soriano won two of two in doubles, as did the doubles team of Natalie Cortez and Maria Alcala for Estancia (8-9, 5-4 in league), which is tied for third in league with Costa Mesa.

The Eagles play host to Calvary Chapel on Thursday to close out league play.

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Olivia Dajee, sophomore Shelby Anderson and freshman Erica Chen combined to win eight sets in singles for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match Tuesday.

Senior Shea O Hill subbed in for a win in singles for CdM (12-4, 6-2 in league).

In doubles, Riley Gerdau and Kenzie Purcifull won 6-1, 6-0, 6-0; Siena Sharf and Sophia Chen won 6-2, 6-1, 6-0; and Kimmia Naaseh and Taylor Fogarty won 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 for the Sea Kings, who play Woodbridge on Thursday. A win would clinch second place in league.

IRVINE — Reid Chase scored seven goals for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday at Woodbridge.

Jake Wyatt added four goals, Danny Marshall scored three goals and Blake Motal had two goals for CdM (14-4, 7-0 in league).

Pacific Coast League finals

BONSALL — Freshman Amy Matsuoka shot a four-over-par 76 making her one of four Corona del Mar golfers making the cut to the second day of the league finals at San Luis Rey Downs Golf Resort and Country Club on Tuesday.

Matsuoka, Emily Turner (86), Karlie Moses (96) and Anne Kim (96) are among 18 trying to advance on Wednesday to the CIF Southern Section Southern Individual Regional at Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach on Oct. 24. The league’s top nine advance to the regional.

NEWPORT BEACH — Freshman Grace Ferrell medaled for the eighth time, recording a one-over-par 37 in the Sailors’ final Sunset League match of the season at Big Canyon Country Club on Tuesday.

Tara Hanna finished with a 44, followed by Christina Ferraro (52), Hannah Perry (55) and Tehya Corona (58).

The Sailors (7-11, 3-7 in league) will compete in the Sunset League individual finals at Lakewood Golf Club on Wednesday at noon.
