UCI has game at Dodger Stadium
A game at Dodger Stadium and two trips to Texas are among the highlights of the nonconference portion of the UC Irvine baseball schedule, which was released Tuesday.
Following the annual Alumni Game on Feb. 4, Coach Mike Gillespie’s Anteaters open the 2012 campaign at the RBI Tournament, which will be played at Minute Maid Park and the RBI facility in Houston, Feb. 17-19.
UCI’s home opener is against UNLV Feb. 20 and its first home weekend series is against Washington Feb. 24-26.
The Anteaters then compete in a tournament hosted by Baylor in Waco, Texas, March 2-4 and will face both Baylor and Lamar twice.
UCI later takes on Pepperdine at Dodger Stadium March 13 as part of the Dodgertown Classic hosted by USC.
The Anteaters play host to Pacific March 30 to April 1 to open Big West Conference action. They also play at home against Cal State Fullerton, April 13-15.
UCI was 43-18 last season and made its fourth-consecutive NCAA post-season appearance under Gillespie, the Hall of Fame skipper, in 2011. The Anteaters have advanced to the NCAA Tournament seven of its 10 seasons since re-instating baseball in 2002.
