Briefs: Donovan coming to SCP

Landon Donovan, the U.S. Soccer great and Los Angeles Galaxy team captain, will make a guest appearance at Macy’s South Coast Plaza Thursday at 6 p.m.

Donovan, best known for his game-winning goal against Algeria in the 2010 World Cup, will be doing a live interview with ESPN.com.

Fans can purchase a red soccer ball for $10 and have it signed by Donovan. All proceeds benefit the victims of the earthquake that struck Japan in March.

Chances to meet Donovan are based on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Fights on the Internet

Fewer than 60 tickets remain for Thursday’s Fight Club OC six-bout card at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

However, promoter Roy Englebrecht of Newport Beach announced Tuesday that his 13th show will be broadcast live on the Internet for free.

The boxing and mixed martial arts bouts will begin at 7:30 p.m. Fans can register to watch at https://www.fightcluboc.com and click on the Fight Club OC TV button.

Thursdays’ fights feature a six-round main event matching undefeated Sammy Gonzalez (7-0) against David Tabatadze (9-1) in a middleweight battle.
