NEWPORT COAST — Sophomore outside hitter Halland McKenna had nine kills, nine digs and two aces to help lead the Lightning to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-15 nonleague win Wednesday night.

Senior outside hitter Maggie Danner had six kills and seven digs, while senior middle blocker Brenna Van Hoogenstyn had three kills, three aces and three digs for Sage Hill (2-0), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division 3A.

The Lightning play at Irvine Friday at 5 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Junior Abby Griffith had nine kills to help lead the Eagles to a 25-8, 25-11, 25-15 nonleague win Wednesday.

Freshman Emma Griffith had seven kills for Estancia, which will play at Tustin on Friday.

Santa Margarita def. Newport Harbor

NEWPORT HARBOR — Tristan Thompson had seven kills and seven digs to lead the Sailors in their season opener, but Santa Margarita won, 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 Wednesday.

Gabby Shelly had six kills and Carolyn Bockrath had five kills for Newport Harbor (0-1). Sailors setter Tori Thompson had 25 assists and seven digs.

Santa Margarita improved to 2-0.

Newport Harbor plays host to Long Beach Poly Friday at 5:45 p.m.

LAGUNA BEACH — Sophomore Stephanie Cho earned medalist honors for the Lightning, shooting even-par 32 at Aliso Creek Golf Course Wednesday.

Senior Angela Choi shot 35 for Sage Hill.

Dana Hills 212, Newport Harbor 261

SANTA ANA — Tara Hanna and Grace Farrell shot eight-over-par 44 for the Sailors in the nonleague match at Santa Ana Country Club Wednesday.

Christina Ferraro (53), Hannah Perry (58) and Thya Corona (62) also scored for Newport.

Avery French of Dana Hills earned medalist honors with a 37.

TUSTIN — Freshman Kinley Ohland swept at No. 1 singles for the Eagles (0-3) in Wednesday’s nonleague match on the road.
