UCI’s Jock competing

UC Irvine star Charles Jock has been selected as a member of Team USA for next month’s North American, Central American and Caribbean Under-23 Track & Field Championships.

The meet will be conducted July 9-11 in Miramar, Fla. Jock, who recently completed his sophomore season at UCI, will compete in the 800 meters and he also is in the pool for the 4x400 relay. He and UCLA’s Cory Primm will represent the U.S. in the 800.

Jock, who competes in the 800 at the USA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday through Sunday, set the UCI 800 record four times in 2010.

The 2010 All-American and Big West Conference Athlete of the Year in men’s track has the school record of 1 minute, 46.17 seconds, set in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships at Eugene, Ore. on June 9.
