SANTA ANA — The host Dons lashed 24 hits against seven Pirates pitchers Sunday to eliminate OCC and advance from the four-team Super Regional to the four-team state championships beginning Friday in Bakersfield.

Santa Ana (30-12) built a 13-1 cushion and scored in six innings to earn its fourth win in five games against OCC (32-10) this season.

Former UC Irvine pitcher Ruben Orosco allowed two runs in six innings to beat OCC for the third time this season and improve to 7-4.

OCC sophomore right fielder Matt Moynihan went two for three with one run batted in and finishes the season with a school single-season record .479 batting average. Moynihan, who has committed to play at the University of Texas, should he not be drafted and sign professionally in June, was 10 for 16 in the Super Regional (.625) and 15 for 25 in six postseason games (.600).

Zach Chavez, Chris Carlson and Bryan Garza also had two hits apiece for the Pirates, who advanced to the Super Regionals for the third time in four seasons.

Gary Apelian was five for six with three RBIs for the Dons.

SANTA BARBARA — Santa Barbara native Crosby Slaught allowed two runs in six innings to earn the victory and help the visiting Anteaters solidify their hold on second place with a Big West Conference series sweep on Sunday.

Slaught is 6-1 this season and 15-2 for his career, as UCI improved to 34-13, 13-5 in conference and has a three-game lead over third-place Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with six conference games left.

Cal State Fullerton (17-4) sits atop the conference standings with only three Big West games left.

Senior Sean Madigan was three for four with a run batted in, while senior Drew Hillman was one for three with three RBIs and junior Jordan Fox was two for three for UCI.

Freshman Jimmy Litchfield pitched 12/3 shutout innings and senior Brian Hernandez got the final four outs for his 10th save.

UCSB fell to 21-24, 6-12.

UCI plays host to USC on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., before playing a three-game conference series at UC Riverside beginning Friday at 6 p.m.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Freshman Danielle Warde scored three goals to help the Anteaters claim fifth place at the NCAA Championship, completed Sunday at the University of Michigan.

Warde’s hat trick gave her a team-best 60 goals for the season, while Jessy Cardey, Cortney Collyer and Hillary Estrada added two goals apiece.

Cordey, a sophomore and the Big West Conference Player of the Year, was named to the All-Tournament team, as was Collyer, a senior attacker who was the Big West Tournament MVP.

Cardey had seven goals on 19 shots in three tournament games and finished with 58 goals for the season.

Collyer had five goals on 12 shots and had 45 goals on the campaign.

Senior Lauren Davis had eight saves for UCI, which finished 23-9.

UCI, a three-time-defending Big West Tournament champion, made its first appearance in the NCAA Championship.

Indiana is 26-13.
