CdM boys’ track & field team wins PCL Championships

Matt Hurst, Tanner Love, Teddy Parks, Nick McGuinness, Troy Hardy, Michael Pierotti and Nick Storm helped lead the Corona del Mar High boys’ track and field team to win the Pacific Coast League Championships Friday at Irvine High.

In reality, every CdM athlete who scored played a big part in the victory, as the Sea Kings scored 164 points, just ahead of second-place Woodbridge with 159.

Hurst won the 400 meters in a meet-record and personal record 48.97 seconds.

Love won the 800 in 1 minute, 58.48 seconds.

Parks won the 1,600 in 4:24.20.

McGuinness won the 110 high hurdles in 14.90.

Hardy won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 39.36.

Pierotti won the shotput with a mark of 43 feet, 7 inches.

Storm won the discus (148-7).

CdM also won the 4x100 relay (42.85).

Hurst finished third in the 200 (22.40). Parks was third in the 800 (1:59.02). Reid Meckler took third in the 1,600 (4:26.13). Spencer Keith earned second place in the 3,200 (9:43.40).

Troy Bolus was second in the 110 hurdles (15.02) and second in the long jump (20-9 3/4). McGuinness was second in the 300 hurdles (39.52) and second in the high jump (6-0). Kai Wilson finished third in the shotput (40-11). Pierotti earned third place in the discus (137-1).

They all qualified for the CIF Southern Section Division 3 preliminaries Saturday at Estancia High.

The CdM girls finished fourth at the PCL meet that Woodbridge won.

Hannah Bagdasar won the discus (106-04) for CdM.

Emma Kratzberg finished second in the 100 hurdles (15.86). Emily Glenn was third in the 300 hurdles (47.33).

CdM also qualified for CIF in the 4x400 relay (4:09.32).
