COSTA MESA — Bijan Rademacher went four for four with six runs batted in and four runs scored to highlight the Pirates’ 22-hit attack in the Orange Empire Conference game Saturday.

Trent Woodward went four for five with four RBIs and one run scored for OCC (27-3-1, 14-2 in conference).

Joel Licon (two for three, two RBIS, three runs), Chris Carlson (three for three, three runs, two RBIs, Stefan Sabol (one for two, three RBIs, three runs), Bryan Garza (three for four, two RBIs, two runs), Justin Broussard (two for four, one RBI, one run) and Austin Wobrock (two for five, one run) also contributed for the Pirates.

Golden West is 18-12, 9-7.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UC Irvine def. UC San Diego

LA JOLLA — The No. 2-ranked Anteaters used a balanced offensive attack to sweep No. 12 UC San Diego, 25-19, 25-16, 25-20 in the regular-season finale Saturday.

UCI (21-5, 17-5 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) clinched the fourth seed in the MPSF tournament. The Anteaters will play host to No. 5 UCLA in a MPSF quarterfinal match next Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Bren Center. UCI improved to 9-1 on the road this year.

Junior Kevin Tillie led the Anteaters with 13 kills followed by senior Carson Clark with 11 kills. Middle blocker Dan McDonnell hit .778 with eight kills on nine attempts and one error. He also recorded six total blocks. Outside hitter Connor Hughes added seven kills and a match-high nine digs. Setter Chris Austin had a career and match-high seven block assists to go with 36 set assists and six digs.

UCI hit .436 943-9-78) for the match and had 11 blocks and five aces. UCSD hit just .136 and had three blocks and two aces.

UCSD ends the season 9-19, 6-16.

SOFTBALL

Doubleheader

AZUSA — Vanguard split a Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader against No. 8-ranked Azusa Pacific Saturday.

Breanne Gomez went three for four with two runs batted in and one run to help lead the Lions to a 5-3 win in the first game.

Angela Miller went three for three for Vanguard in the nightcap that the Cougars won, 3-1.

The Lions are 28-21, 6-8 in conference.

APU is 35-7, 9-3.

MEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine 4, Pacific 3

STOCKTON — No. 1 singles player Fabian Matthews defeated Ben Mirkin, 6-1, 6-4, to help th Anteaters win the Big West Conference match Saturday.

No. 4 - Jacob Jung (No. 4), Shuhei Shibahara (No. 5) and Ryan Cheung (No. 6) also won in singles for UCI (5-15, 2-1 in conference).

WOMEN’S TENNIS

UC Davis 5, No. 66 UC Irvine 2

DAVIS — Kristina Smith won at No. 1 singles for the Anteaters, 6-1, 6-2, in the Big West Conference match Saturday.

Marivick Mamiit won at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1 for UCI (13-7, 5-2).

WOMEN’S WATER POLO

UCLA 10, UC Irvine 6

IRVINE — The No. 2-ranked Bruins overcame a 4-3 halftime deficit to win the nonconference game and snap the No. 6 Anteaters’ nine-game winning streak Saturday.

UCI dropped to 21-6.

UCLA is 17-2.

MEN’S GOLF

Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ — UC Irvine is in 10th place following Saturday’s first two rounds of the 66th annual event at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

Top-ranked Texas leads the 14-team tournament with a 36-hole score of 705, followed by Stanford (713) and UCLA (715). The Anteaters have a two-round total of 755.

Justin Shin of New Mexico State is the individual leader with a two-round score of 3-under 137 (68-69), one shot ahead of Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers.

UCI sophomore Allan Jun is in 23rd place at 146, shooting a one-under 69 in the second round after opening with a 77.

Pete Fernandez (77-73) and Ryan Knapp (78-72) are tied for 43rd at 150, Mickey Chan is 65th at 155 (75-80), Zack Duan is 75th at 158 (80-78) and Michael Yang 77th at 159 (83-76).

The final round is scheduled for Sunday.
