Fight Club OC has former world champion Steve Forbes and veteran Emanuel Augustus headlining Thursday’s six-bout card at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa at 7:30 p.m.

Forbes (35-10, 11 knockouts) and Augustus (38-34-6, 20 KOs) will battle in a junior welterweight bout inside the Hangar. The fight is set for eight rounds.

Forbes, who is 35, and Augustus, 37, have a lot of experience between the two.

“Anyone who knows Steve is aware that he’s at his best at 140 pounds, and he’s going to show that on April 12,” John White, Forbes’ advisor, said in a press release from Newport Beach-based promoter Roy Englebrecht. “Emanuel Augustus is a tough test, but Steve knows that it’s now or never if he wants to move forward in his career.”

Forbes, who lives in Las Vegas, has lost seven of his last 10 fights, including one against Oscar De La Hoya four years ago. His last fight was almost 10 months ago.

Forbes’ last win came against journeyman Roberto Valenzuela on Dec. 17, 2010.

Augustus, who has dropped his last five fights, against opponents with a combined record of 83-2, went up against some of the best early in his career. Augustus, who’s from Chicago, fought David Diaz, Antonio Diaz, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Micky Ward, losing to each boxer.

Augustus’ previous fight was 14 months ago.

Other fights on the card include two near perfect heavyweight fighters, Alexander Flores (7-0, 5 KOs) and Skyler Anderson (16-1-1, 10 KOs), in different six-round bouts.

Flores, who is from Rowland Heights, is up against Palmdale’s Geovanni Sarran (2-3), while Anderson, who is from Washington, faces Los Angeles’ Andrae Carthron (6-7-2).

Anderson is fighting for the first time in two years.

On the undercard, there is Newport Beach’s Steffan Lugo (1-1) against Sanger’s Jose Alvarez (1-0) in a four-round super middleweight bout, Azusa’s Danny Martinez (2-1) against Ricardo Garcia (3-2) in a four-round super featherweight bout, and East L.A.’s Ramon Valadez (10-1) against Moreno Valley’s Kevin Hoskins (6-0) in a six-round junior lightweight bout.

On Saturday at the same venue, Fight Club OC launches its MMA Saturdays series.

The first of three shows is headlined by Irvine’s Keith Berry (11-8) against Huntington Beach’s Tyson Jeffries (8-6) in a super middleweight bout. Six other bouts are scheduled on the card.
