Girls’ Soccer: Hunter, Calderon earn first-team All-CIF accolades

Corona del Mar High senior defender Alana Hunter and Estancia senior defender Marlene Calderon have each been honored with first-team All-CIF Southern Section girls’ soccer honors for their respective divisions.

Hunter is a first-team All-Division 1 honoree, while Calderon is first team in Division 4.

Hunter was a center back for CdM (16-4-4, 7-1-2 in league). The league’s defensive MVP, she helped the Sea Kings win their third straight outright Pacific Coast League title and advance to the second round of the Division 1 playoffs.

Calderon, also a center back, helped Estancia (10-3-11, 4-0-6 in league) win the outright Orange Coast League title. She was the league MVP and is bound for Golden West College after helping the Eagles make the second round of the Division 4 playoffs.

UCLA-bound CdM midfielder Annie Alvarado and senior midfielder Karsten Sigband were second-team All-CIF honorees. Sophomore defender Brynn Motal made the third team.

Estancia sophomore midfielder Alba Barrios was a second-team honoree in Division 4.
