Share

Corona del Mar High senior Alana Hunter earned defensive MVP honors in the Pacific Coast League for girls’ soccer, highlighting four Sea Kings on the first team.

Hunter is joined on the first team by senior midfielders and fellow team captains Annie Alvarado and Karsten Sigband, as well as sophomore defender Brynn Motal.

Hunter was an anchor in the back for CdM (16-4-4, 7-1-2 in league), which suffered several injuries on defense throughout the year. She helped the Sea Kings win their third straight outright league title and advance to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

Motal, who scored two goals, also provided stability on defense for the Sea Kings.

CdM’s final team captain, senior forward Maddie O’Connor (UC Santa Barbara), earned second-team all-league honors. She is joined on the second team by CdM senior defender Alexa Mamatas (Arizona), as well as sophomore Birkley Sigband.

Northwood senior Samantha Solaru earned the league’s offensive MVP award for the second straight year.
