Bradley named Co-MVP

Corona del Mar High senior forward Marcus Bradley was named Pacific Coast League Co-MVP in boys’ basketball after leading the Sea Kings to a share of the league championship.

Bradley is joined on the first team by senior guards Danny Cheek and Clayton Ragsdale, who are each repeat first-team picks.

The trio helped CdM (19-10, 8-2 in league) tie for the league crown and reach the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division III-AA playoffs for the second straight season.

Bradley, a transfer from Beaumont High, averaged a team-best 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-6 Bradley, who shared the league’s top honor with University senior Christian Scott, is being recruited by New Hampshire and Montana State.

Cheek, bound for Northern Arizona, averaged 15 points per game. Ragsdale averaged 11 points and seven assists.

Forward Andrew McCormack represented CdM on the second team.

Six Lightning lauded

Sage Hill School seniors Colton Gyulay and Taylor Ross, as well as junior Jack Percival received first-team All-Academy League honors in boys’ soccer.

The trio led the Lightning to a third-place league finish and to the wild-card round of the CIF Southern Section Division VI playoffs.

Gyulay and Percival ranked first at Sage Hill (9-6-3, 5-3-2 in league) with 10 goals each.

Gyulay, a midfielder, led the team with 11 assists. Percival, a striker, had three assists.

Ross, a striker, finished with eight goals and three assists.

Alex Till, Eric Cheng and Brett Dunleavy each represented Sage on the second team.
