Pitcher Kellen Ochi picked up the win for Sage Hill (5-1, 2-0 in league), which plays at Crean Lutheran Friday at 3:15 p.m.

IRVINE — The Sea Kings saw a 3-0 lead slip away with an error that led to two runs in the fifth inning, and CdM allowed single runs in the sixth and seventh innings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Tyler Maloney and Nick Roco (run batted in) both went two for three and Hunter Heckendorn doubled for CdM (3-5, 0-2 in league).

Peter Walecka pitched six strong innings allowing only one earned run for the Sea Kings.

Estancia 189, Costa Mesa 243

COSTA MESA — Bill Crosson and Aaron Wood both shot one-over-par 36 to share medalist honors for the Eagles in their Orange Coast League opener at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course Tuesday.

Brad Wilson (38), Jake Stone 38 and Courtland Lee (41) also scored for Estancia (3-4, 1-0 in league).

The Eagles play against Laguna Beach Thursday at Mesa Verde Country Club.

Newport Harbor 193, Los Alamitos 210

SEAL BEACH — Thomas Terry shot one-under-par 35 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Old Ranch Country Club Tuesday.

Brad Tapfer (37), Max Meisenheimer (39), Mason Moody (39) and Landon Knight (43) also scored for Newport Harbor (7-1, 2-0 in league).

The Sailors play against San Juan Hills Wednesday at Santa Ana Country Club.

IRVINE — Senior captain Darren Chen and sophomore Adam Wang both shot six-over-par 42 to share medalist honors for the Lightning in their Academy League opener at Strawberry Farms Golf Club Monday.

Sage Hill is 2-4, 1-0 in league.

Corona del Mar 15, Mater Dei 14

CORONA DEL MAR — Molly Rovzar scored six goals to lead the Sea Kings in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Kacie Kline had three goals, Sabrina Smith had two goals and eight groundballs and goalie April Tran made six saves for CdM (5-2).

BOYS’ TENNIS

Newport Harbor 15, Sage Hill 3

NEWPORT BEACH — Reese Stalder swept at No. 1 singles for the Sailors in the nonleague match at Newport Harbor Monday.

No. 2 singles player Christian Lee and No. 3 Gavin Leonard also swept, as did the No. 1 doubles team of Sean Perrier and Garrett Byers swept for Newport Harbor (7-5).

The Sailors open Sunset League play Thursday at Edison.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 8, Fort Collins (Colo.) 7

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Jack Ortlieb had three goals and two assists to help the Sea Kings rally for the nonleague win Tuesday.

CdM (5-0) trailed, 6-3, at halftime. Ortlieb scored his hat trick in the second half, when seniors Casey Mix and Brett Nelson added a goal each.

Sophomore Hoyt Crance had four saves, sophomore Brett Greenlee had five groundballs and senior Chase McElroy had four groundballs. Senior Todd Kitzens (one assist) and sophomores Max Kline and Sherwin Gersten also scored.

Fort Collins (Colo.) 12, Newport Harbor 8

NEWPORT BEACH — Ritter Hagadorn led the Sailors with two goals and three assists in their nonleague game Monday at Peninsula Park.

Hagadorn also had four takeaways and two groundballs for Newport Harbor (2-6).

Clay Smyth and Chris Buchanan each scored two goals, while Nathan Chaness (one assist) and Brandon Rausch also scored for the Sailors. Chaness and Rausch combined to win 11 face-offs and eight groundballs, while Rausch also had three takeaways.

Other contributors included Brian Team (six groundballs, one takeaway) and Tyler Palmquist (two takeaways, three groundballs, two knockdowns). Christian Ruelas made 10 saves.

The Sailors return to action in their league opener at home against Huntington Beach Friday at 7 p.m.

CORONA DEL MAR — Tommy Brooks had seven kills to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25-13, 25-11, 25-18 Pacific Coast League-opening win Tuesday.

Ryan Moss had six kills and Augie Miller had five kills for CdM (7-6, 1-0 in league), which plays at Laguna Beach Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Kevin Rakestraw had 28 kills and Steven Duhoux had 48 assists to key a 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13 victory for the host Sailors in the Sunset League opener on Tuesday.

Peirce Ward had 14 kills for the Tars (10-5, 1-0 in league).

In the Orange County Championships, completed Saturday, Duhoux had 22 kills to lead 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-22 victory over Orange Lutheran in the consolation final.

Ward added 15 kills for the Sailors.

Rakestraw had 17 kills to lead Newport Harbor to a 21-25, 23-25, 27-25, 25-20, 15-11 win over Santa Margarita in a consolation semifinal.

Duhoux had 14 kills and Ward had 13 kills.
