Korber shines for CdM

LAGUNA BEACH — CdM senior Shane Korber won two singles sets before being subbed out, improving to 17-0 this season for the Sea Kings in Wednesday’s nonleague match.

Alex Murray and Carter Wheatley didn’t drop a game in two doubles sets for the Sea Kings (6-1), who led, 12-0, after two rounds. Joel Ishii and Ismaen Aboubakare won, 6-2, 6-1.

CdM opens play at the prestigious All-American Tournament on Friday against Palisades of the Los Angeles City Section. The match is at 8 a.m. at Costa Mesa Tennis Center.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Jim Nelson contributed six kills in the Eagles’ 25-13, 25-22, 25-23 nonleague loss Wednesday.

Anthony Pham had 10 digs for Estancia (0-6).

The Eagles play host to Marina on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior Preston Schow won the 50-yard freestyle (24.10 seconds) and the 100 free (53.19) in Wednesday’s nonleague meet.

Asher Twardowsky won the 200 individual medley (2:20.22) and 500 free (5:47.05) for the Eagles (0-3). Derek Andrews won the 100 back in 1:09.61, Conner Graham won the 100 breast in 1:10.467 and Twardowski, Graham, Matt Thome and Schow won the 200 medley relay in 1:53.25.

The Eagles swim at home against Bolsa Grande on Friday.
