PALOS VERDES — Carson Williams, Henry Gordon and Chaz Downing all swept in singles for CdM in the nonleague match Tuesday at Peninsula High.

Seniors Alex Murray and Zach Williams swept in doubles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, improving to 15-0 this season. Carson Williams improved to 18-0 and Gordon is 12-0 for the Sea Kings, ranked No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 coaches’ poll. Peninsula is No. 9 in Division 1.

The Sea Kings play host to No. 5 Palos Verdes on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Michael Shantos swept at No. 1 singles for the Mustangs in their Orange Coast League opener Tuesday.

Tam Le and Max Nguyen swept No. 1 doubles, while Michael Nguyen and Thuan Trong swept at No. 2 doubles for Costa Mesa (1-4).

LAGUNA BEACH — The Eagles (5-2) lost their Orange Coast League opener Tuesday.

Matt Thomas and Erik Cerros won two out of three at No. 1 doubles.

COSTA MESA — Estancia’s Jake Kanpp shot three-under-par 32, earning medalist honors in the Orange Coast League match Tuesday at Costa Mesa Golf Course’s Mesa Linda course.

Courtland Lee (35), Aaron Wood (37), Jake Stone (38) and Bill Crosson (39) also scored for the Eagles (5-1, 2-0 in league). Nelson Negrillo carded a 38 to lead the Mustangs.

Estancia plays Fountain Valley on Wednesday at Mile Square Golf Club.

LAGUNA NIGUEL — John Davenport was the medalist after he shot two-under-par 34 at El Niguel Country Club Tuesday.

Brian Mull, Chase Wheatley and Hale Furey each shot 39, and Mike Moorhead shot 40 for CdM (7-0).

NEWPORT BEACH — Danny Willett shot one-over-par 37 for the Sailors in the nonleague match at Big Canyon Country Club Tuesday.

Carter Norris, Brad Tapfer and Mason Moody each shot 40, while Max Meisenheimer shot 42 for Newport Harbor (4-2).

IRVINE — Ahmed Eltamami was the medalist for the Lightning in their Academy League opener at Strawberry Farms Golf Course Tuesday.

Sage is 5-1. It was the fifth in as many opportunities Eltamami earned medalist honors.

CORONA DEL MAR — Jack Ortlieb had four goals and three assists for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Connor Cruse, Zack Salaam and Matt English helped produce the shutout with defense for CdM (3-0).

CORONA DEL MAR — Goalie Sarah Hostetler made 17 saves for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Molly Rovzar scored five goals and Kasey Kline had three goals for CdM (4-1, 1-1 in league).

COSTA MESA — Brody Henscheid pitched five innings giving up only one hit, while striking out five and walking two for the Eagles in the nonleague game at TeWinkle Park Tuesday night.

Henscheid was two for three with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Alex Trancoso had one double, two runs batted in and three stolen bases and Andres Hernandez had two RBIs for Estancia (5-1), which opens Orange Coast League at Laguna Beach Friday.

CERRITOS — Trace Curet went two for four with one run and a stolen base for the Mustangs in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Nate Alvis was two for four with one run batted in and a stolen base for Costa Mesa (2-4).

NEWPORT COAST — Chris Zadra had 26 kills, five aces and two blocks for the Lightning, who lost the nonleague match, 25-17, 23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 12-15, Tuesday.

Kent Kawaguchi had 44 assists, three kills and two blocks, while Jack Burgi added 11 kills for Sage (4-6).
