COSTA MESA — The Eagles’ Valerie Medina won the 500-yard freestyle in 6 minutes, 52 seconds in the nonleague match Thursday.

Estancia’s Nikki Blinn won the 50 free in 29.68.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Tri-meet

COSTA MESA — James Lewis and Tyler Connors each won two individual events for Costa Mesa High in Friday’s non-scored meet.

Lewis won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 57.78 seconds, as well as the 500 free in 5:18.50. Both were CIF Southern Section Division III consideration times, as was Connors’ winning time of 1:00.95 in the 100 backstroke. Connors also win the 100 fly (1:02.76).

Victor Gonzalez won the 200 IM in 2:16.81, Mason Cooper took the 50 free in 23.88 seconds and Quinn Stone won the 100 free in 53.43. All three were also Division III consideration times, as were Mesa’s winning 200 free relay (1:38.05) and 400 free relay (3:37.81).

The Mustangs swim at Ocean View on Tuesday.

Lightning Invitational

NEWPORT BEACH — Newport Harbor and host Sage Hill each won their first matches of the two-day tournament Friday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.

Newport Harbor defeated Oaks Christian, 7-2, winning all five singles sets and two of four in doubles. Sage Hill topped Tesoro, 6-3, winning three of five singles sets and three of four doubles sets.

Newport Harbor plays Sage Hill on Saturday morning, while Tesoro plays Oaks Christian. After lunch, Newport Harbor will play Tesoro while Sage Hill takes on Oaks Christian.
