IRVINE — Three unearned runs helped the visiting Huskies claim the rubber game of the three-game nonconference series Sunday.

Senior shortstop D.J. Crumlich was two for three and walked twice for UCI (4-3), which is now 1-3 at home.

Freshman left fielder Ryan Cooper was two for four with one run batted in and one run scored, while freshman designated hitter Connor Spencer was two for four with a run for the Anteaters.

Freshman Chris Rabago and senior Jordan Fox also drove in runs for UCI, for which Mitch Merten and Jimmy Litchfield each worked two innings of scoreless relief.

Senior starter Crosby Slaught took the loss, allowing three hits and one earned run in five innings.

UCI had 10 hits, four more than the Huskies (4-3). UCI also committed the game’s only two errors.

The ‘Eaters are scheduled to play Japan Railroad in an exhibition game Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Anteater Ballpark.

COSTA MESA — Six Lions had multiple hits to pace the hosts in the nonconference game shortened to six innings by rain Monday.

Breanne Gomez was three for four with one run batted in and Haley Croce was three for three to pace the Lions’ 15-hit attack.

Elizabeth Archer had two hits and two RBIs, while Brittany Colenzo (one RBI), Taylor Hallahan and Kari Bergerson added two hits apiece for the winners (9-8).

Five Vanguard errors led to six unearned runs for the visitors (2-13).

IRVINE — The host Anteaters beat UC Santa Barbara, 11-5, in the ninth-place game Sunday behind four goals from Katie Croghan.

Jessy Cardey added three goals and Danielle Warde had two for UCI (12-3), which defeated Cal State Northridge, 10-5, in the ninth-place semifinal Sunday.

Cardey had three goals against CSUN.
