NEWPORT BEACH — Chase Wheatley earned medalist honors with a two-under-par 33 for the Sea Kings, who were one stroke off from tying the school record of 178 during a Pacific Coast League opener at Newport Beach Country Club on Wednesday.

Bryan Hong had 34 for CdM, followed by John Hong (35), Walter Frome (38) and Drew Hanson (39).

The Sea Kings play host to Dana Hills on Thursday at Newport Beach Country Club at 2:30 p.m.

SANTA ANA — Brad Tapfer and Max Meisenheimer both shot three-over-par 39 to share medalist honors for the Sailors in the nonleague match at Santa Ana Country Club Wednesday.
