COSTA MESA — Zach Nehrir (one run batted in) and Ricky Navarro both went two for four to help Pirates Coach John Altobelli collects his 499th win Wednesday in nonconference action.

Greg Espinsoa had two RBIs for OCC (10-2). Evan Porcella pitched six innings. He struck out five and allowed one run and six hits to improve to 2-0.

COSTA MESA — The host Lions managed just five hits, but took advantage of six walks in the nonconference game Wednesday.

Adonis Tountis, Matt Avery and Thomas Movley drove in runs for the winners (7-6), for whom Jason Ochart scored twice.

Clayton Voetching allowed one run on three hits in three innings to earn the win, while Jordan Moak and Kevin Ponzo combined for five scoreless innings of relief. Ponzo earned his fifth save.

Menlo fell to 6-4.

Orange Coast 89, Cypress 74

COSTA MESA – Jordan Pellum scored a game-high 25 points and led four Pirates in double figures in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

Spencer Poston had 14 points, Marquis Ransom added 11 points and Broderick Dunlap scored 10 points for OCC (12-14, 3-8.

Cypress is (5-23, 0-12).

COSTA MESA – Dayanara Armenta scored a team-high 19 points for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

Michelle Angel finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and six assists for OCC (12-15, 3-8 in conference).

Cypress is 21-8, 11-1.
