Sophomore Abraham Cortez assisted on the goal. Estancia (12-4-5) scored first in the 25th minute, when Wesley Pena found the back of the net. But La Serna (13-7-4) tied it up with five minutes left in regulation.

Eagles Coach Robert Castellano said goalkeeper Enrique Salazar, who was brought up from the junior varsity team, stepped up for Estancia.

Salazar, a field player for the JV team, had six saves. He filled in for junior Danny Guerrero, who dislocated his left arm in the first five minutes of a win over Costa Mesa last week.

Estancia, which finished second in the Orange Coast League, will play host to No. 2-seeded Artesia (21-1-1) in the second round Tuesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
