Estancia’s girls’ soccer win, combined with Godinez forfeits, gives Eagles sole grasp of first.

SANTA ANA — The Estancia High girls’ soccer team posted a 1-0 Orange Coast League victory over Calvary Chapel on Wednesday at Centennial Park.

The win, combined with former league leader Godinez having to forfeit its wins for the use of an ineligible player, gives the Eagles the outright league title.

The Eagles (8-2-12, 4-0-6 in league) received a goal from junior Jackie Hubbard to complete their league season unbeaten.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Costa Mesa 36, Laguna Beach 31

LAGUNA BEACH — Abriona Mathis and Danielle Obong had 11 points apiece for the visiting Mustangs in the Orange Coast League finale Wednesday.

The win creates a three-way tie for second between the Mustangs, Laguna Beach and Godinez. Godinez gets the league’s No. 2 berth in the CIF Southern Section playoffs, while Costa Mesa and Laguna Beach will play on Friday at an undetermined neutral site to determine the league’s No. 3 playoff representative.

Costa Mesa is 15-11, 6-4 in league.

Estancia 44, Calvary Chapel 28

COSTA MESA — Junior Celia Duran had 11 points, 10 steals, nine rebounds and six assists for the Eagles, who closed out their regular season at Orange Coast League champions.

Estancia (19-7, 9-1 in league) had eight points in four minutes from Wendy Martinez, while Diana Avila had a pair of three-pointers to account for her six points.

Los Alamitos 50, Newport Harbor 27

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Cierra Haas had eight points and nine rebounds in the Sailors’ Sunset League finale on Wednesday.

McKenna Izzi had five points, five rebounds and two steals for Newport Harbor (4-22, 0-10 in league).

Jenny Lopez contributed three points, seven rebounds and three assists.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Estancia 10, Saddleback 3

COSTA MESA — The host Eagles created a three-way tie for third place in the Orange Coast League and the three teams will compete in a mini-tournament on Thursday to determine the league’s third guaranteed entry into the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

Estancia will meet Godinez at 2 p.m. Thursday at Segerstrom High, with the winner advancing to face Saddleback in the third-place playoff game at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, Ilene Umansky and Abby Garcia had three goals apiece, while Alexis Paul made 12 saves for Estancia (13-12, 1-3 in league).

BOYS’ SOCCER

Newport Harbor 3, Marina 1

NEWPORT BEACH — David Munoz scored twice in the Sunset League game Wednesday as the host Sailors completed the regular season tied for third with Edison.

The Tars (12-8-4, 4-4-2 in league) are the league’s No. 4 team, which puts them in position to earn an at-large berth into the CIF Southern Section playoffs, their first trip to the postseason in four years.

True Tamplin also scored, while Nick Shahadi, Henry Ramirez and Chas Beek had assists.

Corona del Mar 3, Beckman 1

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Hunter Cullen finished with a goal for the Sea Kings on Wednesday, keeping them in the race for second place in the Pacific Coast League.

Conor Roche and Jack Nowak each recorded a goal for CdM (4-2-3 in league).

The Sea Kings close out league on the road Friday against University at 5:30 p.m.

Reed Wolonsky, Davis Chase and Mike Allen played well in the midfield.

Woodbridge clinched the league title, finishing 6-2-2.
