College Roundup: OCC golfers victorious

CHINO HILLS — Sophomore Kyle Melchiorre shot three-under-par 143 to earn medalist honors and lead Orange Coast College to the team title in the two-day event completed Wednesday at Los Serrano Golf Course.

Melchiorre shot 71 and 72 on the north course (par 72) and the south course (par 74), respectively, to help the Pirates top the 16-team field with a score of 741.

Marcus Mercado-Kiel (149), Kyle Pollema (150), Riley Muphy (150) and Jem Young (156) also played well for OCC.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

COSTA MESA — Michelle Angel had 14 points and seven rebounds for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

OCC is 11-14, 2-7 in conference.

IVC is 17-10, 6-3.

COSTA MESA — Marquiss Ransom had 23 points and made seven of 10 field-goal attempts to lead the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference clash Wednesday.

OCC is 10-14, 1-8 in conference.
