High School Roundup: Six wrestlers from CdM qualify for CIF

Pacific Coast League finals

IRVINE — Corona del Mar High produced three league champions and a total of six CIF qualifiers Saturday at Irvine High.

Senior Paul Nguyen (138 pounds) won by fall in his championship match.

Juniors Adam Reines (132) and Kaden Ebbinga (152) both won 4-1 decisions in their championship matches.

Junior Chris Croxton (113) placed second.

Senior Andrew Minkus (126) won by a fall and freshman Chris Camarillo (106) won an 11-0 decission to place third and complete the CIF qualifiers for CdM.

Junior Brian Goldstone(145) and sophomore Ruslan Eynullaev (160) both placed fourth and are alternates for the CIF tournament

The Sea Kings placed fourth as a team, behind Irvine, Woodbridge and Beckman.

The six qualifiers will compete in the CIF Southern Section Central Division individual tournament Feb. 15 at Norte Vista High in Riverside.

Sunset League finals

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Newport Harbor High junior Andrew Craft (138 pounds) and senior Larson Harley (152) both earned third place Saturday at Fountain Valley High.

Seniors Virgilio Martinez (132), Mason Murphy (170) and RJ Roberts (182), as well as junior James Pilz (160) each finished fourth for the Sailors.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

St. Margaret’s 2, Sage Hill 0

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Goalie Kekai Whitford made 20 saves for the Lightning in the Academy League game Saturday.

Sage Hill is 11-7-3, 3-4-1 in league.
