CORONA DEL MAR — Senior guard Max Stone finished with 23 points and two three-pointers for the Sea Kings in a Pacific Coast League game on Thursday.

Blake Grable had 18 points for CdM (17-8, 7-1 in league), ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division 3-AA poll.

The Sea Kings close out league play next week, with games at Northwood (Tuesday) and Woodbridge (Feb. 7). CdM trails first-place Northwood by one game.

Irvine Southern California Championships

IRVINE — Newport Harbor defeated Long Beach Millikan, 13-1, and Carlsbad, 12-4, on Thursday at Woollett Aquatics Center to advance to the quarterfinals.

Carolyn Smith scored a team-high three goals against Millikan, while Heidi Fults, Chloe Glore and Christina O’Beck scored two goals each. Carly Christian and Avery Peterson scored three goals each against Carlsbad, while Fults and Rachel Whitelegge each scored twice.

Third-seeded Newport Harbor (18-4) will play Agoura in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Friday at Woollett. Agoura upset Santa Margarita, 10-9 in overtime, in a second-round match.

Irvine Southern California Championships

CORONA DEL MAR — CdM advanced to the tournament quarterfinals with a pair of victories Thursday at its home pool.

The fourth-seeded Sea Kings got by Cabrillo, 20-5, and Mira Costa, 20-2.

Cassidy Papa led CdM (18-3) with four goals against Cabrillo. Ally McCormick and Kampbell Gritsch had three goals each.

Stephania Haralabidis had five goals against Mira Costa and her twin sister, Ioanna, and McCormick both scored three times.

Corona del Mar plays Los Alamitos in a tournament quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Friday at CdM.

Costa Mesa 13, JSerra 2

COSTA MESA — Junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Hill had 15 saves in the nonleague game Thursday at Costa Mesa High.

Kellie Thorsness had seven goals and three steals for the Mustangs (16-10). Aubry Hill had four goals and drew five exclusions and a penalty shot, and Melissa Folkerts had four steals and two assists.

Costa Mesa also beat Saddleback, 16-4, in its final Orange Coast League game Wednesday. The Mustangs finished second place in league with a 3-1 record.

Thorsness again had seven goals, and Lauren Smith scored a career-high four goals. Aubry Hill had three goals, three assists and drew three exclusions and a penalty shot, while Kaitlyn Hill had five saves.

Estancia 56, Saddleback 26

SANTA ANA — Senior Wendy Martinez and juniors Rabekkah Lewis and Abby Griffith helped lead the visiting Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Thursday.

Martinez had five points and three assists, while Lewis and Griffith combined for 20 rebounds and 12 points for the Eagles (17-6, 7-1 in league).

Estancia plays host to Godinez on Monday at 7 p.m.

Costa Mesa 61, Calvary Chapel 22

COSTA MESA — Senior Molly Settles just missed a triple-double with 19 points, 16 rebounds and nine steals to lead the host Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Thursday.

Seniors Elizabeth Ford and Rachel Whitter had 12 and nine points, respectively, for the Mustangs (13-10, 4-4 in league).

CORONA DEL MAR — Junior guard Katie Scott had 10 points and four steals in the Sea Kings’ Pacific Coast League game on Thursday.

Natalia Bruening finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for CdM (8-15, 1-7 in league).

The Sea Kings play host to Costa Mesa in a nonleague game Friday at 5 p.m.

Huntington Beach 60, Newport Harbor 21

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Bela Raimondi had seven points and five rebounds, and Jordan Perry had six points and eight rebounds for the visiting Sailors in the Sunset League game Thursday.

Elizabeth Kremer had four points and four rebounds, while Jenny Lopez chipped in six rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Sailors (4-20, 0-8 in league).

COSTA MESA — Sophomore Brynn Motal redirected in a corner kick from senior Karsten Sigband to open the scoring, then senior Annie Alvarado converted a penalty kick to propel the host Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game at Estancia High on Thursday.

Junior Kendall Mulvaney had four saves to earn the shutout for CdM (12-3-4, 4-1-2 in league).

CERRITOS — Claire Novotny, Allie Mowrey, Erika Lynn-Green scored goals for the Lightning in the Academy League match Thursday.

Tiffany Taylor and Juliette Singarella had an assist each.

Goalies Kekai Whitford and Lauren Thunen made three saves each for Sage Hill (11-6-3, 3-3-1 in league).
