Newport Harbor 72, Marina 49

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Junior guard Nic Sargeant had 23 points for the Sailors, who picked up their first Sunset League win of the season Wednesday night at Marina High.

Brian Robbs had 17 points and eight rebounds for Newport Harbor (10-10, 1-3 in league),. Zach Wade had 12 points and dished out six assists, and Kevin Rakestraw had eight rebounds.

Newport Harbor plays host to Los Alamitos at 7 p.m. Friday.

Costa Mesa 49, Saddleback 44

COSTA MESA — Junior guard Kyle Hefner had 17 points for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday at Costa Mesa High.

Sean Comer scored 11 for the Mustangs (7-12, 2-1 in league), and Quinten Bell snagged 13 rebounds.

Costa Mesa plays at Calvary Chapel on Friday at 7 p.m.

SANTA ANA — Josh Mendoza had 18 points to pace the visiting Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday.

Ben Beck added nine points for Estancia (4-15, 0-3 in league).

Newport Harbor 2, Marina 1

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Senior midfielder Alan Alcantara scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute of the Sailors’ Sunset League match on Wednesday.

David Muñoz assisted on Alcantara’s goal.

True Tamplin scored on a free kick in the second half for Newport Harbor (10-6-3, 2-2-2 in league).

Goalkeeper Osiel Porcayo made eight saves for the Sailors.

Newport Harbor plays host to Los Alamitos on Friday at 5 p.m.

Estancia 2, Godinez 1

SANTA ANA — Freshman Kevin Pizarro and senior Chris Gomez scored second-half goals for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday at Centennial Park.

Jorge Mendoza assisted Gomez’s goal for Estancia (7-4-3, 2-1 in league). Godinez answered with a goal in the 75th minute, but the Eagles were able to hang on and upset Godinez (7-2-2, 1-1-1), the seventh-ranked team in Orange County by the Orange County Register.

Estancia plays host to Saddleback at 5:15 p.m. Friday at Jim Scott Stadium.

COSTA MESA — Junior goalkeeper Brandon Menez made eight saves against the defending Orange Coast League champion Roadrunners on Wednesday, helping the Mustangs remain unbeaten in league play.

Costa Mesa is 2-3-2, 1-0-2 in league.

IRVINE — Senior striker Jack Nowak recorded the Sea Kings’ lone goal in a Pacific Coast League match on Wednesday.

John O’Connor had the assist for CdM (6-5-4, 1-0-2 in league).

Sophomore goalies Gavin Allen and Stonor Boyse each had one save, and senior Davis Case and junior Jay Damon stood out on defense for the Sea Kings.

Newport Harbor 14, Huntington Beach 4

NEWPORT BEACH — Carly Christian, Elissia Schilling and Rachel Whitelegge each scored three goals for the Sailors in the Sunset League match Wednesday night at Newport Harbor High.

Christina O’Beck scored twice for the Sailors (13-4, 3-0 in league), and Cleo Harrington made nine saves.

Newport Harbor plays at Laguna Beach on Jan. 25 at 4 p.m.

Irvine 62, Corona del Mar 12

IRVINE — Senior Paul Nguyen (128 pounds) earned a pin in the second period for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League dual match Wednesday.

Junior Chris Croxton (113) won, 5-0, and junior Kaden Ebbinga (152) won, 6-5, for CdM (14-4, 2-1 in league).
