UC Irvine junior outside hitter Jeremy Dejno has been named Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week in volleyball by the American Volleyball Coaches Assn.

Dejno helped No. 1-ranked UCI to three victories on the way to capturing the UC Santa Barbara Invitational championship on Friday and Saturday at UCSB.

After defeating then-No. 15 Cal Baptist and then-No. 7 Long Beach State by racking up a combined 15 kills, he saved his best match of the weekend for the title showdown with UCLA.

Against the then-No. 6-ranked Bruins, the Wisconsin native hit .481 on 13 kills without an error in 27 swings. He also added seven digs and two aces. He also did not commit a single passing error in 25 attempts and finished the weekend with a .935 passing percentage.
