AYSO Region 57 CdM 6, Tustin 4 Coach Chris Dunk’s Corona del Mar boys’ Under-10 team remained in first place in the Spring Select season by coming from behind Saturday to earn a win over Tustin.

Six of the eight CdM players — Max Dunk, Connor Allan, Noah Wolfe, Diego Carrerras, Joey Flanigan and Nathaniel Espinosa — scored. Strong play in goal and on defense by Grant Joyce and Christian Polny were key factors.

The CdM Select team is leading the league in goals with 18 in four games, a span in which Wolfe, Flanigan, Dunk and Espinosa have carried the offensive load. The defense has been led by Joyce, Polny, Allan, Carrerras and Cortens.

Mariners seventh-grade boys’ volleyball rallies In a recent Coastal Athletic League match against Crystal Cathedral, the Mariners Christian School seventh-grade boys’ volleyball team rallied to win the last two games of a best-of-three match.

The Dolphins played well as a unit and had several players serve up streaks of four or more points. Middle blockers Jake Haar and Matthew Marchiorlatti dominated the front row and Grant Midstokke had an excellent serving game and served for several consecutive points.

The Dolphins are now 2-1 in league play.
