COSTA MESA — Emma Scott scored the game’s lone goal about 10 minutes into the second half Tuesday at the Farm Sports Complex.

Alex Osterberg, Heidi Ritner and Christina Venturini stood out on defense for Andersen, the three-time defending fifth- and sixth-grade Gold Division champions.

Caroline Bethel was an offensive catalyst for Andersen.

Carden Hall 4, Rea 1

COSTA MESA — Emily Goltz scored twice to pace Carden Hall Tuesday at the Farm Sports Complex.

Maddie Kernan and Leila Modjtahedi added goals for the winners, who also scored Rea’s lone tally on an own goal.

Tara Morris anchored the Carden Hall defense in goal.

Boys’ 5-6 Gold

Lincoln 3, Sonora 1

COSTA MESA — Jason Neiger scored the first and third goals for the winners, for whom Safvet Besen scored to break a 1-1 tie in the 47th minute of the 50-minute contest Tuesday at the Farm Sports Complex.

Cameron Curet put Sonora on top early. Curet’s would-be second goal, which would have given Sonora a 2-1 lead in the 29th minute, was nullified by an offsides call.

Matt Ctvrtlik sparkled in goal for Lincoln, including stopping a penalty shot with his left foot in the first half.

Girls’ 3-4 Silver

Victoria 2, Carden Hall 1

COSTA MESA — Kasandra Jimenez scored the game-winning goal early in the second half for Victoria on Tuesday at Costa Mesa High.

Jimenez’s goal was assisted by Briana Munoz. Julie Orellana also scored for Victoria.

Victoria Coach Carol Wyche also highlighted the play of her goalies, Kathy Ochoa and Karla Rosas.

California 7, Rea 2

COSTA MESA — Leilani Acuna had a hat trick to go with two assists for California Tuesday.

Lexi Osso recorded two goals and three assists to help California open with a victory. Christina Melvin and Caitlyn Moledo each added a goal to round out the scoring for California, which is coached by Estancia senior soccer players Jill Beck and Kendra Fisher.

Boys’ 5-6 Silver

Killybrooke 1, St. John The Baptist 0

COSTA MESA — Carlos Pedroza scored in the second half to lift Killybrooke in its opening game Tuesday at Costa Mesa High.

Pedroza said his goal came after a series of passes from teammates Miguel Elias, Alex Reyes and Danny Moya.

Killybrooke Coach Marco Lopez said defenders Brad Mo and Brandon Luna also played well, and goalies Reyes and Michael Landaverde helped preserve the shutout.
