Santa (retired Costa Mesa Police Helicopter Sgt. Bill Bechtel) waves to the crowd as he arrives to rousing cheer with student James Sick, during his visit to Woodland Elementary School to hand out candy canes to the 525 kids in on the school's playground. Sick won the chance in an auction to be Santa's helper during the school's "Fall Flingo" fundraising event to benefit the Kaiser-Woodland School's Foundation science program.
