Community & Clubs: Celebrate Newport Balboa’s 75 years of service

The Rotary Club of Newport-Balboa will celebrate 75 years of service at 6 p.m. June 26 at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club with an evening of dinner, drinks, music and dancing, according to President-Elect Lauren Reeves.

If you have been a past member or a spouse of a past member, member of another Rotary Club or service club, have benefited from a club scholarship or service project, participated in a Rotary Exchange program or leadership program, you and your family are invited to attend the dinner.

The club will also be having the changing of the guard so it will be a delightful evening of roasts and toasts! The Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club is at 1601 Bayside Drive, Corona del Mar. Tickets at $39.75 per person can be obtained by emailing Lauren@prince-events.com.

ARBOR DAY TREE EDUCATION AND TREE PLANTING

John Conway is the Newport Beach city arborist, according to Caroline Babott, editor of Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary Club newsletter Reflections at Sunrise. According to Babott, Conway manages roughly 34,000 trees with an estimated value of $63 million in 165 community associations that the city services with a three-year pruning cycle.

After Conway finished his remarks at the club meeting at Peninsula Park in Newport Beach, the members joined together to planted a Mediterranean fan palm to celebrate Arbor Day, adding one more tree to Conway’s list.
