Relay for Life nets more than $120K

Surf City raised more than $120,000 and had about 1,600 people come out to the Huntington Beach Relay for Life in May to support finding a cure for cancer.

The Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature event, and cities across the nation hold their own fundraiser every year. Huntington Beach came together May 15 and 16 to raise money for cancer research, treatment and services.

Resident formed 48 teams, which pledged to have at least one participant walking around Huntington Central Park for 24 hours.

The city has raised more than $400,000 in the last four years.
