Deputy sentenced for false report, firing gun in home

A former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was sentenced Thursday to a year in jail for filing a false police report against her ex-husband and shooting a gun inside her house toward where children were playing out front.

Westminster resident Patricia Margaret Bojorquez, 43, pleaded guilty to felony discharging a firearm with gross negligence that could have resulted in injury or death and a misdemeanor count of falsely reporting a crime.

She was sentenced to a year in jail and five years of formal probation.

Bojorquez has prior convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or more from August 2009 and April 2010.

Bojorquez reported to the Huntington Beach Police Department on Nov. 18, 2009, that her ex-husband was sexually assaulting a 13-year-old female relative because she was upset over child-custody issues, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.

Police investigated the allegations and found the girl hadn’t been sexually assaulted or told Bojorquez she had been, officials said.

Police were called again, but this time by Bojorquez’s brother and fiancé, after she shot a gun inside her house. The bullet hit a bedroom window before flying toward the street where children were playing in the front yard.

She was on probation for driving under the influence at the time of both incidents.
