Suzanne Marie Rodgers<br/>April 15, 1932 - October 1, 2014

Suzanne Rodgers, 82, a long-time resident of Irvine and Corona del Mar passed away suddenly on October 1, 2014. Suzanne Marie Routt was born on April 15, 1932 in Westmorland, California. She was an honors student at Jordan High School in Long Beach and attended UC Santa Barbara. Sue was a faithful Christian and was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irvine. She was always looking for ways to help others and was involved in various ministries at Good Shepherd including providing communion for shut-ins, sewing prayer quilts and knitting blankets and caps for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Sue was truly the ultimate mother and grandmother. She was always loving, fun and had a great sense of humor. She was also a fabulous cook – tacos, enchiladas and chile rellenos were some of her family’s favorites. Holidays and birthdays always incorporated many of her delectable dishes including her savory stuffing at Thanksgiving and her famous lemon cake and lemon meringue pie for birthdays. She was smart, thrifty, humble, always put others above herself, loved taking care of her roses and plants and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles with her children and grandchildren. Her final jigsaw puzzle, completed on her dining room table, had the message “Welcome to Paradise.”

Sue loved her family and was a dedicated, loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and sister. She was a true friend of all she met. She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Ron Rodgers (Jean), Jessica and Amy; Lori Rampone (Nicholas); Jeff Rodgers (Janna), MacKenzie, Kirsten and Christina; Candace Cox (Patrick), Sean, Reilly, Carly and Kelsey; as well as her cousin Marty Cox. All will miss her and her sweet smile.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4800 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine, California 92604. Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
