Blanche Spiritus, 95 of Newport Beach passed away on February 11, 2011. She was born on May 3, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York. After completing her BS degree she went on to obtain a Masters Degree prior to starting her teaching career. After her marriage to Milton she began raising a family and devoted time to her favorite organization the B’nai Brith. After moving to Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey she resumed her teaching career and also opened up her own ladies dress store. In 1972 she and her husband retired to Newport Beach. She was a whiz with knitting needles and could always be counted on to whip up an original baby sweater for newborn baby gifts. During the ensuing years she developed many friends and was a regular in a number of monthly card games. She was a voracious reader and became a devotee of Suduko. She was able to carry on these activities until the end. She is survived by her children, Dr. Gene Spiritus , his wife Susan and their children,Margo and Lisa, Lily Ann Hainline and husband John, Rosalyn Spiritus Heaton and husband Ross, Patricia Spiritus Benz, her husband Bob, and their daughter, Shelby.
